This book has been ten years in
the making, and is the fruit of a clinical investigation by an interdisciplinary
team dedicated to the treatment of hereditary baldness.
The focus here is, in many ways, a revolutionary concept, a discovery which has been proven through hundreds of patients. It is guaranteed by Dr. Emilio Quintanilla, Director of the Department of Detrmatology at Clínica Universitaria de Navarra, and Dr. J.L. González de Rivera, Professor of Medical Psychiatry and Psychology of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. This is bad news for the big laboratories and multinational cosmetic companies: if a cure for baldness is found, they stand to lose a lot of income as the patient would no longer be a "consumer". It is possible that the problem of baldness has until now been tackled only on a piecemeal basis. However, we are going to fuse several essential techniques, not only to promote new hair growth, but also to obtain a general improvement at a psycho-physical level, as it is obvious that we have to fight against the factors of ageing in order to obtain a state of cellular regeneration at all levels. For new hair to grow in the places where it has vanished, the body has to be stimulated biologically. In other words, we have to learn behaviours which use our own energies, nutrients, oxygen... We have to learn to take the garbage out of our system so that the blood is not contaminated, to avoid foods which produce allergies - which are the precursors of hair loss -, and we have to learn simple mental techniques for living without anxiety, stress, etc... By now you are probably asking yourself exactly which are the keys to this discovery. They are in the book, but they can be explained thus: - In the first place, we have discovered that there exists an androgenic hypersensibility in the body, which means that a person becomes allergic to his own masculine hormones. - On the psychic front, we have observed a tendency to hyperadaptivity in men, and evident or concealed depression in women. In both cases, though, a high level of internal and/or external stress is observed. - On the other hand, in terms of the environment, the increase in contamination (of the air, water, etc.), inadecuate eating habits (fast food, excess food colouring, preservatives, stabilizers, etc.) makes for a hostile environment, where the hair, which acts as a receptor or antenna, tells us that something is not right. A holistic approach, which is characterised by the search for inter-relation, tells us that there is an analogy between social differentiations (North/South) and personal alterations in the dis-sociation between reason and feeling or, in other words, between the rational, analytical left side of the brain, and the intuitive vision of the right. This phenomenon is known as entropy (a physical law which describes the waste of energy which occurs when one side of the brain is orderly and has energy extracted from the other, abused, disordered and chaotic side). This process presents evident unbalance, whether seen from a socio-political viewpoint (North/South axis) or as a function of personality. "It can be asserted, through this book, that the bald are better adapted to modern production systems as, through hair loss, they disconnect from their feelings, without apparent suffering, and are thus able to execute the established rules and regulations which are demanded of them." The practical manual, "SAVED BY A HAIR!", scientifically confirms the importance of this valuable popular expression. While unravelling all the causes of hair loss, we have seen the intimate inter-relationship between hair, man and his planet. On the other hand, the fact that men lose their hair more often than women is not pure chance, because they are more vulnerable to our present cultural models: men become dis-sociated from a very young age through the stimulation of intelligence and willfulness while at the same time repressing emotional and affective development. And that is how a style of thought is born: analysis and reflexion predominates over intuitive creativity and emotional thought, which somehow becomes systematic, whereby doing one’s duty is more important than loving, throughout life. That excessive mental control is detrimental to a number of other mental functions and is at the same time a defense mechanism, which allows us to avoid confrontation with our inner selves (thus discovering how far away we actually are from our selves), of which we know nothing as a result of the way we are brought up, a situation which can generate anxiety. The more anxious we become, the less we understand, because we lack the psychological tools for analysis and therefore are able only to defend ourselves by increasing control, and thus distanting ourselves from our feelings. Einstein said that an excess of control prevents the complete development of 90% of the brain’s capacity. It is also true that we are devastating our planet, submitting it to our control and production systems. In the same way as we try to avoid feelings which could unbalance our pillars of control, we are excercising economic control by gradually putting paid to the biodiversity of our natural environment by creating more and more monoculture, cattle ranching and any other kind of exploitation which maintains that control. We seem determined to forget that humanity depends on the proper functioning of our natural ecosystems in order to survive. All forests are a part of the planet’s support systems and play an important role in regulating our climate and hydrographic cycles, as well as in maintaining the health of the earth itself. It is therefore especially worrying that the tropical forests are being subjected to massive deforestation, bringing with it the disappearance of the indigenous population there, simply because they are not in tune with the western world. In order to recover a sense of balance, it is important to get off the path of "power over" and "I have", replacing it with "being". In the same way we must stop that massive destruction of tropical forests and indigenous populations if we want to improve the life span of hair, man and planet. It could be said that this is an S.O.S. manual for all three at once, and it depends on the speed with which we carry out its proposals as to whether or not we can ensure the survival of our hair, ourselves and our Earth. And what is even more important is that peace becomes an expression of personal and environmental harmony. In this book we will find formulas for a more balanced and satisfactory life which will "repopulate" our head and re-launch our joie de vivre , and we urge you from these pages not to keep all these benefits to yourself, collaborating with the repopulation and regeneration of our planet as well. For this purpose, we offer a number of adresses of NGOs which can help you find out how to do it. We are sure that a day in the country helping to plant trees, or relating to other people in a similarly important venture will be a gratifying experience, and, have no doubt, your descendants will be eternally grateful. In short, this book is clinical proof of the experience of many men from all walks of life, who have admitted in confidence that they are tired of living behind a mask of invulnerability and being "in control" all day long. As spokesperson for this hidden truth, with this manual I want to promote the development of the female principle which we all have in our beings, as a manifestation of the exponential creative power indispensable to the biodiversity of thought, feeling, flora and fauna of the planet.
